“Maisen is coming to Taipei!” Japanese Maisen pork cutlet fans living in Taipei were super excited to hear this news in October 2016. Maisen, which specializes in deep fried pork cutlets, first opened its doors in 1965. It is a long-awaited addition to the Japanese restaurants that have been opening up nearly every week in Taipei. Taiwan is the third overseas venture for Maisen after Thailand and the Philippines, and there are now branches in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung.

「MAiSEN(邁泉)在台灣開店了!」2016年10月住在台灣的日本人和台灣的邁泉豬排粉絲聽到這個消息,都非常興奮。幾乎每周都會有日本的餐廳在台北開設分店,而創業於1965年的炸豬排專賣店「邁泉」,正是其中大家最期待的日本炸豬排店。邁泉豬排MAiSEN目前在台灣的台北、台中、高雄擁有三家分店,其他海外分店包括在泰國、菲律賓,台灣也成了MAiSEN 邁泉豬排進軍海外市場的第三個國家。

Menu choices include the Choice Kurobuta Tenderloin Katsu Set (NTD750), the Choice Kurobuta Loin Katsu Set (NTD750), and the Kuro no Takumi Minced Pork Katsu Set (NTD650), all made with Kagoshima Kurobuta pork imported from Japan, are popular items.

Kagoshima Kurobuta pigs are fed a sweet potato mixture and the meat is sweet with a texture that will melt in your mouth. It is loved by women, children, and those who are health conscious because the fat is not greasy. Many Taiwanese people, who are used to eating a lot of pork, are surprised at the delicious taste and texture of the meat.

The pork cutlets are prepared the same way they are in Japan. Each cutlet is handmade after the order is placed and then deep fried and brought to the table. You can choose either a sweet or spicy sauce to go with it. All the condiments, like hot mustard or spice seasonings, are imported from Japan so you can experience authentic Japanese taste without leaving Taiwan. The restaurant is packed every day and so popular that some customers come all the way from Hong Kong because there isn’t a branch there yet.

在台灣,邁泉豬排所提供的菜單,其中「特選腰肉豬排套餐」(NTD750)、「特選里肌豬排套餐」(NTD750)、「黑豬肉漢堡排套餐」(NTD650),使用了特地從日本進口來自鹿兒島產的黑豬肉「黑之匠」,相當受到顧客歡迎。

在「鹿兒島黑豬」的飼料中加入番薯,使得其肉質香甜富彈性,在口中像雪一般融化的柔軟口感。油脂部分吃起來十分爽口無負擔,所以女性和小孩,還有注重健康的男性都會非常喜歡。這口感和美味,就連平常也常吃豬肉的台灣人也很驚訝。

炸豬排的作法遵循和日本相同的手法,顧客點餐後一個一個用手工製作,再將剛起鍋現炸的豬排送到餐桌上。炸豬排醬汁有甘口、辛口、黑豬專用,可以依照個人喜好挑選。辛香鹽和日本芥茉醬等調味料,全部都從日本進口,即使不去日本,在台灣也能品嘗到完全一樣的口味。此外,因為在香港並沒有分店,因此許多顧客特地前來品嘗甚至成為常客,十分受到歡迎,每天都人潮滾滾。
