When it comes to the food, Gabe serves up his favorite dishes from Japanese izakayas with a Portland twist. The berry and chili oil flavored seviche is one such example that is available alongside sashimi at the Sashimi and Raw Bar. Since Gabe trained in a butcher shop prior to opening the izakaya and grew up with a father who loved Chinese food, there are also plenty of non-seafood menu items on offer. Some of the most popular of these are the gyoza, karaage, and toritsukune. For the chilly season, however, the owners’ recommend the piping hot nabeyaki udon, which uses Japanese kombu, bonito flakes, and udon. Also not to be missed are the homemade pork and shrimp dumplings.
For drinks, there is a varied lineup on offer that includes not only Japanese sakes and beers but also local craft beers and original cocktails.
